California is the first US country to launch a record of Covid-19 digital vaccine, the Coronavirus Healthcare tracking system that might be the same controversial because it is useful. The system, which will live today, allows the population of California to prove their vaccine status without having to carry a physical card.
It comes because nearly 20 million people in California have been vaccinated against Covid-19, with more than 41 million doses that have been given according to the US center for disease control and prevention. Immunization is recorded in the database operated by the state.
The database is a new digital-19-19 vaccine recording portal. A user can enter their names, date of birth, and email number or cell phone related to their vaccine records to register with the system. After creating a four-digit PIN, they will receive text or email with a login link. Punching the pin will open the digital version of the note.
It does not need to be noted, the expansion of information about vaccinated people has been collected by California. Indeed it is really only an electronic version of the physical card given by people when they receive each dose, and which shows when they are injected, with certain vaccines, and doses.
Even so, it is likely to be another element in ongoing controversy around the vaccine record, which has triggered frustration in a few quarters among those who are annoyed at the idea of a health recording database. Rules around only data that can be collected, stored, and shared – and even requested by stores, entertainment venues, and employers – is a sustainable source of confusion.
This new California portal is impossible to overcome the confusion, even because it makes it easier to disclose vaccination status. This system uses QR Smart Health Code technology, produces barcodes that can be saved and then scanned by places that have appropriate equipment and technology.
However, California explained that this was not called a vaccine passport. It is one of the fears among those who care about the government’s potential beyond vaccination: that individuals will be legally requested to bring some kind of evidence that they have been immunized.
“You are not required to get a digital covid-19 vaccine record,” California showed. “This is an optional means to get your Covid-19 vaccine information, and is a digital version of your paper vaccine card. This is one of the options to show evidence of vaccination. The state will not implement a compulsory passport system in California.”
The protocol opened has become a source of uncertainty in recent months, as a suggestion of CDC and other institutions evolved to take into account covid-19 awareness changes and rising vaccination. The latest guidelines are that they are fully vaccinated safely inside, opening up, with other people who are fully vaccinated, but that those who have not been vaccinated must continue to use masks. But it is based on the honor system, with immunization status to individuals to reveal.
