If you are planning admission to UK universities, you will also be preparing for the TOEFL exam, a test that reflects the fine English-language skills required in academic achievements. Non-native English speakers are expected to go through this test so that they can prepare for speaking, writing, and listening to the English language. It allows them to succeed in an academic environment and have successful communication in the classroom and the campus.

Since candidates speak through the microphone, the test judges only the English language skills of the candidates. There is no biasing based on race, gender, or nationality of the candidate.
Booking the Exam Slot
Candidates can do TOEFL registration through the TOEFL official website or the app available on the app store and Google play. Candidates must create their ETS account for the registration. Follow the step given below for registration:
Step 1: Visit the official website of TOEFL ets.org
Step 2: Click ‘Register/ Find Test Centre, Dates’
Step 3: Enter your preferred test location and choose the time slot you would like to take the test.
Step 4: Now click ‘Find Test Centers and Dates’. A calendar will appear on the screen with dates having available seats.
Step 5: Select the date at your convenience. Chose a location and click ‘Show Test Times and Register’, and register for that location.
Step 6: Click Register after you find the time that suits you to take the test. A page will appear with all the information you must know before completing the registration process.
While registering for the exam, candidates will have to provide their ID details. While providing this information that your ID is valid for the location you have selected. Review and acknowledge the information about the exam. Disability accommodation is also available for candidates with a disability. They can ask for the same during the TOEFL registration.
ETS also has TOEFL Home Edition, which is a great option for candidates who cannot or do not want to go to the test centre. Candidates can register with their ETS account by selecting the Home Edition option. The option is available in every nation, like the test centre for the TOEFL exam. However, the choice is still not available in Mainland China and Iran.
Format of the Test
As soon as you register for the test, you will start preparing for the test. Let us now understand the format of the test to help you prepare well for the TOEFL exam. The test comprises four sections. The test duration is 3 hours with a 10 minutes break between the second and third sections.
The first section is the Reading Section with 30 to 40 questions. Candidates must read a passage and answer the questions from the passage. The time duration is 54 to 72 minutes.
The second section is the Listening section having approximately 28 to 39 questions. Candidates listen to a lecture or classroom discussion and then respond to the questions based on it.
Candidates have a 10 minutes break before beginning with the third section, which is the Speaking section. The section has 4 tasks and a time duration of 17 minutes each. They speak into the microphone about familiar topics and discussions on the material you read and listened to.
The last and fourth section of the TOEFL exam is the Writing section. Candidates have two tasks and a time duration of 50 minutes to complete the section. Students must read a passage, listen to audio, and then type the responses to complete the tasks.
