E3 2021 has been wrapped, and it is safe to say that it was a fairly and low sample. The event was home to some important advertisements that showed side by side with segments that felt that they really did not adjust to typical E3 schedule. Despite the discomfort that comes with the transition from a show that normally takes place in person fully online, we still have some of the great advertisements that is known E3.
I think it’s clear that this would not have been much of an E3 to write home without Microsoft and Nintendo. I would also have Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest as an important contributor, although technically it was not part of E3. However, it was in those programs that we obtained the larger ads.
As for the greatest announcement of the whole event, that is something difficult to call. The Summer Game fest, for example, not only gave us our first look at the feet of Elden Ring’s play, but also gave us a launch date for the game. Then, I had Microsoft revealing things like Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite Multiplayer, and even the start date of Starfield from Bethesda. Putting a lid in the show was Nintendo, who shared another teaser for the breath of Wild 2 and told us that it is aimed at a 2022 launch date for the game.
These were the big ones, the Show stop reveals that people specifically tune to E3. There were a lot of other great and exciting revelations during the three shows, but if I had to choose the greatest of the event as a whole, I would tell all those who have just listed. If my feet were on fire and I had to choose one that was the greatest revelation of the program, I would probably say that it was the Ring of Elden.
The trailer we saw for the Elden ring was much more substantial than, for example, the breathing trailer of Wild 2 fans, and soultan fans have been waiting a long time to listen more about it. People have been asking more about Elden’s ring for so long that Geoff Keighley even expressed relief that was finally showed this year, proclaiming: “I hope you are happy, I am free! Outside of jail!” After the Trailer debuted. We can only imagine how much has been harassment that poor man has been harassed by fans of rabid dark souls who want to know more about the Ring of Elden in the last two years.
While the Elden Ring definitely stole the show during the start of Summer Game Fest live, there were also other exciting advertisements during that show. For example, and this comes from someone who feels a little fresh towards Borderlands these days, I think the wonders of Tiny Tina sound like an incredible concept for a pimple of Borderlands and I am excited to see more.
I also believe that metal slug tactics look very good, but I’ve always been a fool for a good game of tactics. As the Slashgear resident man-son, who never stopped thinking that dinosaurs are incredible, I am also excited by Jurassic World Evolution 2 as well. However, I hope that the border becomes a bit deeper with the mechanical simulation this time.
The Xbox and Bethesda Showcase was first filled with games ads as well. I am very excited by Forza Horizon 5, especially after the confirmation that we will go to Mexico at this fee. This American is not only excited to explore for forza in a country like Mexico, but also to the tickets in Australia and Great Britain, he is also ready to start driving on the right side of the road again.
The Microsoft Conference also announced the external worlds 2 as far as it was possibly the best trailer of E3 2021, and gave us a great surprise when it revealed the release date of Diablo II Resurrected. Redall, which is an upcoming ARkane Austin game, sounds promising, but, of course, we need to see the game in action as well. The conference also presented a word that Microsoft is making the Xbox series X mini-refrigerator reality, and I think that is wonderful.
Then we had Nintendo, who also covered a lot of land. As I said, the breath of the savage 2 was unquestionably the largest part of the show, but the fear of Metroide, who served as opener of the live, definitely gave him a career for his money. The new WarioWare game looks fantastic, and I know I’m not alone by saying that I’m super excited about the return of the advanced wars. It has been too long since we heard from the Avance Wars series, so, hopefully, these remakes that are on track to change the signal of a larger revival for the franchise.
While the presentations of smaller editors such as Square Enix and Ubisoft were a little lighter than they are generally, there were still some exciting ads that are found during those events. I am very interested in listening more about the so-called “pixel rematters” of the first six fantasy final games that were announced during the Square Enix show, while Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope was not only the highlight of the Ubisoft show , but a culminating point of E3 in general.
I will begin this section saying that it was clear what kind of impact the pandemic has had in most companies “assisting” to E3 this year. I am not saying that, as a blow against these developers and editors, the pandemic has derailed life, since we know it for 18 months, but I think it is obvious that many of the editors who normally would have a lot of ads ready to go for E3 did not have that this year.
Many of these E3 conferences focused on the games that have already been announced, or even released, instead of completely new games. We will always see a mix of ads for new and previously revealed games in E3, but with regard to the main publishers such as Ubisoft and Square Enix, it felt like the balance tilted on the side of the games that we already knew. .
Some editors filled their time with panels and discussions, giving those of the industry the opportunity to talk about certain topics or developers the opportunity to talk about their games in greater depth. Koch Media, who celebrated his first E3 lecture this year, did not have many play images on the tap for his show. Instead, much of your show understood interviews where developers talked about their games instead of showing them.
Taking two did something similar for your own E3 slot; He just did not talk about games at all. Instead, taking the Event of two was a panel on diversity and inclusion in the Games industry. I will admit that when Alan Lewis, which serves as vice president of corporate communications and public affairs, he jumped on the screen before the panel to deliver a statement on inclusion, the cynical in me thought it was only another corporation that gave him inclusion. and nothing more.
I ended up observing most of the panel, and the people who participated in it had many good things to say about diversity within the Games industry. I think it was a necessary discussion, and the fact that it happened in E3 put it in front of many people who would not have tuned. For what it is worth, I also find interviews of fascinating developers (when they do well, at least), so I really was not bothered by the fact that there were more of them than usual this year.
Do you feel good for a show like E3? I guess that’s in the viewer’s eye, but it does feel like many of these segments would have been a better fit for something like GDC, where the panels and conversations are more the main appeal. Can I oppose myself to offer a mix of revealing events and talks in the future? Definitely not, but I’m not going to blame anyone by saying that E3 2021 ultimately not what they expected.
