John McAfee, controversial antivirus pioneer, was found dead in prison

Antivirus software businessman John McAfee has died at the age of 75 years. According to Spanish publication El Mundo and El Pais, the police found McAfee dead in the Barcelona prison cell where he was waiting for extradition to the US. A spokesman for the Court Judgment Department has confirmed death to Reuters. The report showed that the authorities believed that he committed suicide, but the cause of death had not been officially determined.

The Spanish authorities arrested McAfee at Barcelona airport in October 2020 after the charges of the US Federal Prosecutor for charges of fraud and money laundering, as well as tax embezzlement costs related to the offer which failed to be carried out as a libertarian party candidate in the libertarian presidential election. McAfee allegedly failed to propose a four-year tax refund between 2014 and 2018 despite producing a “big income” of various sources, including from the money he made promoting Cryptocurrency and selling rights to his life story for a documentary.

While he is famous for the antivirus software that carries its name, in recent years McAfee has largely received media attention for its uncertain behavior. In 2012, when he lived in Belize at the time, he was accused of paying Hitman $ 5,000 to kill his neighbors. Recently, the authority in the Dominican Republic arrested McAfee because it was suspected of traveling by cruises with high caliber weapons and other military equipment.

“There was a lot of sadness in prison, disguised as hostility,” McAfee wrote recently on his Twitter account. “I’m old and satisfied with the food and bed but for young prisons is a horror – a reflection of the minds of those who contain them.”
