Strange Planet, a webcomic series on aliens who use a curious language to detail their growing understanding of the Earth, became a destination of the animated series for Apple TV +. The comic series was launched by artist Nathan Pyle in 2019; He quickly became popularity through social networks, winning his creator millions of followers on Instagram.
In light of this popularity, as well as the renewed public interest in the theme of aliens, it is not surprising that the comic becomes an animated series. Apple has ordered a season of 10 episodes of an animation based on the strange Comic Planet series, according to the Hollywood reporter.
The show will be available on the Apple TV + platform with Dan Harmon from Rick & Morty Fame on board to serve as co-creator with Pyle. Amalia Levari has taken advantage of Showrunner for the next series, while Apple Studios will work with ShadowMachine to produce the series.
The show, according to the report, follows the same general theme that we see in the series of comics, counting the stories of aliens who are learning about life on earth, including how to interact with humans and animals.
This will be the second animation aimed at adults ordered by Apple for its transmission video platform, joining the musical series Animated Central Park. Although animated entertainment for adults are nothing new, the genre has seen a resurgence in popularity with successes such as Rick & Morty, Archer and Bob’s Bowers.
