It seems that there is still another Galaxy Quest TV program in the pipe, but this is not the first time we hear a plan to bring a sci-fi comedy to a small screen. Amazon revealed the intention to create the Galaxy Quest television adaptation a few years ago, which fell flat, followed by efforts to revive the project in 2017 with a new writer.
It is not clear whether something will actually come from the Amazon Galaxy Quest project – it’s been a long time since we got an update on the plan. However, it looks like we might not need an internet retailer to carry a show to a small screen, with Simon Pegg and Georgia Pritchett write their own adaptation.
The Galaxy Quest is a comedy science fiction film released in 1999 with several big name actors such as Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. The television adaptation was first announced in 2015 it was unsuccessful because of Alan Rickman’s death unfortunate in 2016.
In 2017, it was announced that Paul Scheer had been tapped to rewrite the series, but we had not heard it since then. The news about this new adaptation was revealed by Pritchett during an interview with the UK publication of the Times [PayWall].
The Galaxy Quest shock pan in popularity, which has experienced science fiction and Star Trek fans over the past 20 years or more, sorted by repeated efforts to bring a series to television. However, it has been more than six years teasing on this front, leaving fans wondering whether one of these projects will eventually follow up.
