The US government has confiscated 33 websites owned by Islamic radio and the Iranian television Union (IRTVU), as well as three other sites owned by the Iraqi’ib Hizballah (KH) said, after the group violated US sanctions, the Ministry of Justice said in a yesterday’s statement. In particular, Doj accused the news site distribution of disinformation, which brought the October announcement since then the Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, called for Iran and Russia for using the wrong information to disrupt US election. The sites confiscated include tap TV, the English side of the TV of the state of Iran, and Palestine today, which focuses on the point of view of Islamic militant groups such as Hamas, Washington Post report.
Doj said the Office of Control of Foreign Asset (OFAC) has been labeled Irvu as National (SDN) specifically designated in October, because of the direct bond to Iran. The label basically prevents organizations from getting US services without a license from OFAC. Doj noted that either IRTVU or KH obtained a license ofac for the confiscated domain, even though the domain is owned by US companies.
In October, Doj also announced that he won 92 domains that were bound to Iran’s Islamic revolutionary guards, after saying that they were part of the global disinformation campaign. Not only the US government that makes similar claims too. In September, Microsoft also announced that Iran, Russia and China were behind hacking efforts that continued to intend to interfere with US elections.
