YouTube brings a long-awaited functionality of its iPhone application: image-in-image (PIP). All Premium subscribers will soon have access to the viewer and YouTube says it plans to activate PIP for all IOS users in the United States.
“In-Image image allows users to watch YouTube videos in a small mini player while navigating simultaneously outside the YouTube application on their mobile device”, a Youtube spokeswoman told Engadget. “We start moving PIP for YouTube premium members on iOS, and plan to launch a PIP for all US IOS US users.”
Apple brought PIP on iPhone last year as part of iOS 14. Many video broadcast applications support feature, including Netflix, Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + and Apple TV. Even if he has supported PIP on Android since 2018, YouTube had been a noticeable person on IOS until his core change, which was reported first by macrumors.
Some iOS users have found the workaround to watch YouTube via PIP. He sometimes worked via the YouTube Mobile Web and some people acceded through shortcuts. YouTube has not revealed the Timeline for the deployment of the PIPs, but these bypass solutions will no longer be necessary.
The PIP support on the YouTube application has been expected for a long time and it is nice to see that it will not be just for Premium members, at least in the United States. I am personally looking forward to kicking and watching Overwatch Chaotic League matches on a mini player while reading reactions on Twitter.
