Microsoft hires co-creator ‘portal’ to build games for cloud

Microsoft has hired Kim Swift, perhaps best known as the Co-Creator of Portal, to oversee the collaboration of Xbox Game Studios Publishing with an independent studio in the game built for Cloud. Swift joined the Senior Director of Cloud Gaming after serving in the Stadia, where he was a gaming design director.

Swift is a Drop Narbacular producer, which was released in 2005. Valve hired the team behind the game to make a spiritual successor: Portal. Swift is a lead project on a classic puzzle platformer. He worked on the left for the die series before moving to the airtight (quantum puzzle) and then Amazon and EA Motive.

Google turned off the internal stage stage studio in February. Many team members have moved to other companies.

“Kim will build a team that focuses on new experiences in Cloud, something that will support our mission to bring our Xbox game to connect 3 billion gamers to play our games,” Xbox Game Studios Publishing Head Peter Wyse to Polygon.

Microsoft wants to reach a large number of gamers who do not have, want or need a console or pcs of gaming. It builds streaming sticks and smart TV applications so people can access Xbox Cloud Gaming through pass games without special hardware dedicated. So, it’s a little surprising that the Xbox is working on the “original cloud game,” because Wyse put it. However, he added that “We don’t know what is exactly what today, or what is played like,” So the game is quite far enough.
